About the Bricks Calculator

Enter your wall area in square feet (or length and height) to find how many bricks are required. Choose a standard brick size or enter custom dimensions.

Formula: Bricks = Area (sq ft) × Bricks per sq ft × (1 + Wastage%). Bricks per sq ft depends on brick face size plus mortar joint.

Frequently asked questions

How many bricks per square foot?

For a standard US modular brick (7⅝″ × 2¼″) with a 3/8″ mortar joint, you need about 6.9 bricks per square foot. Actual count varies with brick size and mortar thickness.

Why add wastage?

Cutting, breakage, and uneven walls typically require 5–10% extra bricks. Adjust the wastage field to match your project.

Can I enter area directly in square feet?

Yes. Choose "Square feet (direct)" and enter total wall area. Or use "Wall length × height" to calculate area from dimensions.
